Jigsaw Relief (Lino) Printmaking - multi-colour (landscapes inspired) | 19th April | 10am - 3:30pm

£50.00

Dive into a creative one-day workshop exploring multi-colour relief printmaking using the dynamic jigsaw technique. Ideal for beginners and those curious about colour, composition and texture, this session is built around landscapes with a contemporary twist.

You’ll begin by drawing inspiration from provided specimens and natural world reference materials that reflect local plants and wildlife. Trish and Nick will guide you through translating your sketches into bold, expressive relief designs.

Rather than printing a single colour at a time, you’ll cut your carved block into sections that can be inked separately in different hues before being reassembled to print in one pass. This fun method makes multi-colour printing more direct, playful and less intimidating than multi-block or reduction techniques.

Across the day you will learn:

  • a brief history of relief printing with examples of fine-art print

  • techniques to observe and draw ideas for your print

  • how to plan and refine a design for relief multi-colour printing

  • experimental mark-making using carving tools

  • cut your carved plate into jigsaw sections for colour separation

  • techniques in how to roll ink for clean, expressive impressions using a colour palette

  • about different paper types for printmaking

  • press and pull final prints to take home

You’ll discover how colour, shape and texture interact to bring alive vibrant prints without complicated technical steps. This workshop provides a supportive environment where experimentation is encouraged and simplicity is an asset.

Hot drinks and biscuits are provided - just bring curiosity (and a packed lunch). You’ll leave with a set of colourful, layered prints and the confidence to continue exploring relief printmaking at home.
