Print studio: Guided Practice Sessions | various dates | 10am - 1pm
Open Editions: Guided Practice is a focused, artist-led printmaking session designed to support the development of your own print projects in a relaxed, guided studio environment. The perfect follow-on from an introductory workshop.
These three-hour sessions are ideal for anyone wanting time, space and guidance to work on personal relief or drypoint printmaking. Whether you’re developing an idea from a previous INSTAR workshop or bringing an independent project, the session is shaped around your individual interests and pace.
Participants can work in relief printmaking (lino) or drypoint, with access to studio tools, materials and the tabletop press. Trish and Nick will be on hand throughout to offer technical support, creative feedback and practical demonstrations as needed.
Rather than a fixed outcome, the emphasis is on process, skill-building and experimentation - carving, etching, inking, printing and refining ideas within a supportive small group.
Across the session you may:
develop and refine a personal printmaking project
work in relief or drypoint using studio equipment
receive one-to-one guidance and technical advice
test new approaches to mark-making, texture or composition
print and reflect on work in progress
These guided sessions are suitable for beginners who have attended an introductory workshop, as well as those with some printmaking experience who value guided studio time. It offers a welcoming, creative space to build confidence, maintain momentum and deepen your practice.
Basic materials are provided. Participants are also welcome to bring their own plates or paper if they wish.
Hot drinks and biscuits are provided - just bring your curiosity!
